REVIEW: In Eden, in the home, in the classroom, in the workplace, and in nature those who come with a desire to learn and put what they learn into practice will grow in the wisdom that comes from above. The Ten Commandments together with the story of Genesis guide us in forming a Biblical worldview that properly understands the origin, meaning, morality, and destiny of life. Jesus was the great Teacher who gave us a perfect revelation of what God is like and a perfect fulfillment of the Ten Commandments as our Surety and Substitute. All true education will enhance our worship of God and prepare us for eternal life with him. To this end the church should be especially equipped.

The Beauty of Holiness (Gen. 1 & 2; 4:16-17; 10:8-12; 11:1-9; Ex. 25:8; Psa. 96:6; Heb. 8:5; Rev. 4:4, 10)

1. When God created this world what aspects reflected his love of beauty and the beauty of his character? The light that illumined everything & the glorious light of sun, moon, & stars; the flowering trees, vines, & plants created in a myriad of colors that filled the earth; the clear, flowing rivers that watered the earth while reflecting the heavens; & the unique beauty of all the animals occupying the environment – even the beauty of Adam & Eve.

2. After sin entered this world what did Cain, the murderer, build in opposition to God’s beautiful creation? He built a city & named it after his son.

3. After the worldwide flood who enlarged on Cain’s rebellious plan bringing God’s wrathful intervention? Asshur who built Nineveh & three other cities & Nimrod who built Babel with its Tower & three other cities.

4. When God delivered his people from Egyptian slavery what representation of himself did he give for their worship? The sanctuary with its three sections.

5. What aspects of the earthly sanctuary reveal God’s love of beauty? The white linen curtain that surrounded the court; the brazen altar & lavar with their symmetrical design; the coverings & embroidered curtains of the temple; the intricate, golden articles of furniture in the Holy Place illumined by the candlestick & perfumed with incense; & the beautiful glory of the Most Holy Place with its graceful angels guarding the ark of the covenant.

6. Of what was the wilderness sanctuary a type? Of the true tabernacle in heaven whose glory far surpasses that of the earthly.

7. How should God’s love of beauty in places where he meets with humanity be displayed in our places of worship? Our places of worship should be simple, well designed, & beautiful like God’s original creation.

The Glory of God (Ex. 33:18-20; 34:5-8; Psa. 19:1-6; Rom. 1:18-24)

8. When God showed Moses his glory what other term was equivalent to “glory”? His “name.”

9. When God showed Moses his glory where was that glory most perfectly revealed? In God’s character of mercy, grace, longsuffering, & abundance of goodness & truth (and so should our beauty be primarily interior.

10. When people refuse to acknowledge the God revealed in creation what do they make as objects of worship? Images of corruptible man, birds, or other animals resulting in worship of the creature rather than the Creator.

11. What does the Psalmist say that the heaven’s reveal? The glory of God.

12. How extensive is the revelation of God’s glory in the heavens? It is everywhere throughout the whole earth.

Science Falsely so Called (Job 38:1-25; 39:1-30; Psa. 139:13-16; Eccl. 1:5-7; Isa. 40:22; Rom. 1:20; 1 Tim. 6:20-21)

14. List some examples of scientific accuracy as given in the Bible? The hydrological cycle as recorded in Ecclesiastes 1; the planetary movements as recorded in Job 38; the spherical shape of the earth as recorded in Isaiah 40; the behavior of animals as recorded in Job 39; the formation of DNA in the womb as recorded in Psalm 139.

15. When modern science and the Bible disagree which of the two sources do true Christians believe? The Bible.

16. What does Paul warn Timothy that will result from believing false science? Erring (departing) from the faith.

17. What is the basis for all true science? The creation account given in Genesis 1 & 2.

18. What popular scientific theory is completely contrary to the Bible record? The theory of macro-evolution that states that lower life forms can evolve into higher life forms (even into human beings) over long periods of time.

19. According to the Bible record what is the approximate age of the earth since creation? Approximately six thousand years.

20. Given the seriousness of believing false science what efforts should we make not to be taken in by its false claims? We should diligently study the Bible, attend schools that base their education on the Bible, & listen to speakers who believe the Bible.
