REVIEW: We have completed primary school in the book of Daniel. It included simple math: “1, 2, 3, 4, 10, bang;” a simple class outline: “kingdom, king, sanctuary, people;” a simple rule of thumb: “the Bible is its own interpreter;” and a simple rule of operation: “time, test, results.” This was all accomplished by telling stories. Now we enter secondary school and we must build on what we have already learned.

Daniel’s Vision (Daniel 7:1-8; 2:36-40; Isa. 57:20; Rev. 17:15)

1. What world empire ruled when Daniel received his night vision in chapter 7? The Babylonian empire.

2. If Daniel’s vision were apocalyptic in nature where would we expect it to begin? In the time of the Babylonian empire.

3. What kind of symbols did God use in Daniel’s night vision? Wild beasts of prey.

4. List the four beasts that came up out of the great sea: A winged lion, a lopsided bear, a four-headed leopard, & a terrible dragon-like beast.

5. Of what is the sea a symbol? Of the mass of humanity.

6. What basic prophetic outline already given in Daniel 2 is repeated here? The “1, 2, 3, 4, 10, bang” outline.

7. In Daniel’s night vision what additional symbol is added to the basic prophetic outline? That of a “little horn.”

8. Between what two symbols does the “little horn” appear? Between the 10 & the big bang.

9. What clues are given that show that Daniel’s night vision covers the same world empires revealed in chapter 2? The numerical sequence of “1, 2, 3, 4, 10, bang,” a bear is inferior to a lion, “worldwide dominion characterizes the third empire, the same activity of the fourth empire together with the mention of iron teeth, & the everlasting nature of God’s kingdom.

The Big Bang (Daniel 7:9-14; Matt. 12:34-35; 1Tim. 2:5; 1 John 2:1)

10. In Daniel chapter 7 what is the “big bang”? The “big bang” in Daniel 7 is a books judgment.

11. Where does the books judgment of Daniel 7 take place? It takes place in heaven because the records are there, the thrones were placed there, the Father & myriads of angels are there, Jesus comes as Judge & Advocate to the Father there, & Jesus legally defeats the “little horn” there.

12. When does the books judgment of Daniel 7 take place? It takes place after the “1260-day” reign of the “little horn” & before Christ’s second coming when the sentence of the judgment will be carried out.

13. What factors in Daniel 7 reveal that it depicts the restoration of God’s King? The lion is given a man’s heart depicting the conversion of king Nebuchadnezzar, King Cyrus conquers Lydia, Babylonia, & Egypt (the 3 ribs in the bear’s mouth), four heads of the leopard depicting rulers, verse 17 says the four beasts are four kings, verse 24 says ten kings & three kings, & Jesus as king receives the dominion.

14. With whom does Jesus share the throne that is given to him? With his sealed saints.

The Interpretation (Dan. 7:15-28; Eccl. 12:14; Isa. 14:13; Eze. 4:6; 2 Cor. 5:10; 2 Thes. 2:1-10)

16. Where else in Holy Scripture is a fiery movable throne mentioned? In Ezequiel 1 & 10.

17. If God’s throne was “on the sides of the north (the place of the table of shewbread in the Holy Place)” when Lucifer rebelled to where does it move in Daniel 7? To heaven’s Most Holy Place.

18. What is contained in heaven’s “books”? The video record of every human life.

19. What does Paul call the “little horn” that was to arise after the fall of the fourth world empire? “The man of sin.”

20. What period of time does the “little horn” use to speak great words, make war against the saints, and think to change times and laws? A time (1 year), times (2 years), & half a time (half a year) which prophetically adds up to 1260 days that in prophecy represent 1260 years.

21. What kinds of time and laws are important to God’s people? Prophetic time, Sabbath time, & the Ten Commandment Law.
