REVIEW: In the book of Acts the gentile physician, Luke, tells the story of the early church beginning with Jesus’ ascension. Before leaving this earth in a cloud Jesus instructed his disciples to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit was poured out. With the power of the Spirit they were to be witnesses of all they had seen and heard from Jesus. While they waited Peter, Jesus’ appointed leader, lead the 120 in the upper room to choose a replacement for Judas. Holy Scripture, unity, prayer, nominations, and voting led to the choice of Matthias.
