REVIEW: The Psalms reveal God as Sovereign Judge who brings deliverance to his people and destroys their enemies. He hears the prayers of those who love him and answers their pleas.

What is righteous living?

1. What does it mean to live righteously? To live righteously means to keep oneself from sin (Psa. 18:23).

2. What guides the steps of the righteous? The Law of God guides the steps of the righteous. His testimonies are their continual encouragement (Psa. 1:2; 119:1-3).

3. In the light of the shortness of human life what will the righteous do? The righteous will continually be mindful of their use of time, using it to perfect their characters & give glory to God (Psa. 90:10-12; 102:11; Eph. 5:15-17; Col. 4:5).

4. What will God’s people continually do so that their hearts do not become hardened? God’s people will continually listen to his voice & confess their sins so that their hearts do not become hardened (Psa. 95:6-11; Heb. 3:12-15).

5. To whom do God’s people continually cry for help? The righteous continually go to God in prayer for he is their Helper (Psa. 141:1-25).

      How can we live righteously?

6. What does God promise to do for weak sinners? God promises to teach us his ways (Psa. 25:8-9; 143:10).

7. What must a person know before he can do right? One must know what right is before he can do it (Psa. 119:66; Rom. 10:2; Eph. 5:17; Col. 1:10; Jam. 4:17).

8. What is the first thing a person must do in order to understand God’s will for their life? A person must first believe in God & his goodness before they can understand his will (Psa. 103:17-18; 111:10; Heb. 11:6).

9. Where does God reveal his will for humanity? God reveals his will for humanity in his Word, especially in his Ten Commandments (Deut. 5:32; Psa. 119:33-35).

10. What gives a person freedom to do God’s will? The forgiveness of their sins gives a person freedom to do God’s will (Psa. 32:1-5; 51:1-15; Rom. 6:18).

      What is the fruit of righteousness?

11. What is the immediate fruit of righteous living? Righteous living always produces peace (Psa. 37:37; 119:165; Jam. 3:18).

12. What good thing does God withhold from the upright? God withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly, rather he protects them & gives them grace & glory (Psa. 84:11; 91:1-12).

13. Besides peace, protection, grace, and glory what other blessings come to those who live righteously? Light, gladness, prosperity, & strong children are some of the blessings that come to those who live righteously (Psa. 97:11; 112:1-4; 125:1-5).

14. How does God treat the righteous when they fall? When a righteous person falls God lifts him up (Psa. 37:23-24; 145:14; Prov, 24:16).

15. How secure are those who live righteously? Those who live righteously dwell with God & shall never be moved (Psa. 15:1-5; 25:21; 26:1).16. What is the ultimate fruit of righteous living? The end result of righteous living is the salvation of their souls (Psa. 7:10; 37:18; 1 Pet. 1:9).
